ALL COMMUNICATIONS TO BE ADDRESSED TO THE FIRM Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd. Nightingale Road, DERBY. 2 October 1925. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. W.A. Robotham. We have pleasure in enclosing a paper entitled "Etudes sur le Shimmy", as promised. Will you please return this at your convenience? While the writer was at your works yesterday, the question of comparative tread wear on English and French Dunlop tyres was mentioned. As this is a matter of considerable interest to us, we should be glad if you could see your way to give us the results of any observations you have made on the point. With regard to the effect of the side-steering rod on wheel wobble, it occurs to us that useful information would be obtained by disconnecting the rod while a wobble is in progress. We should then know whether the rod merely excites, or helps to sustain the wobble. As you are aware, the geometry of the side-steering rod has been blamed by some workers, for the phenomenon. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD. A Healey. | ||
