With reference to your proposed piston turning machine, Mr Royce writes on June 3rd as follows :- "I am in receipt of Mr Whitehead's suggestion for a piston turning machine, for which I thank him very much. I should not propose to make such a machine because of the following reasons:- 1. Unless the work cannot be done satisfactorily by the present machine or can be done very much more rapidly and better by a special machine, I think we are too full up with work to make any special machines. 2.
