NEWTON STREET HIGH HOLBORN LONDON. W.C.2 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. 24th June, 1939. For the attention of the Experimental Dept. CHILD Dear Sirs, We thank you for yours of the 22nd instant and we greatly appreciate your detailed observations on the performance of our Car Radios, Models 101 and 297. We note you are retaining the Model 297. It seems that your main complaint is based on the amount of outside interference but we beg to point out that this is probably due to the high degree of sensitivity of this set and we think you will agree that it brings in a great number of stations. We can obtain a higher degree of inter-station quietness if you so desire. Also it is possible to increase the signal to noise ratio. In other words, we can tend to eliminate external interference to a greater degree under given conditions. The receiver you have is designed to obtain stations under the most adverse conditions. It may suit your purpose to have a different type of receiver as you are mainly interested in installing receivers on a relatively large type of car. We would, therefore, ask whether we may submit a further receiver within the course of the next three or four weeks. We will send you a sample of our new eight valve set and will bear this in mind and you will then have an opportunity for comparison. ........ | ||
