BENTLEY 5. HAND BRAKE LEVER.

Referring to the shield for protecting the hand brake trigger mechanism on B.V. the experience during the 50,000 miles test is that it is the part of the bell crank lever which lies in the channel section of the hand brake lever which gets choked with mud etc. and not that part which is protected by the shield; the shield on the contrary tending to aggravate this choking up.

If the shield should be bent, it tends to check the full movements of the bell crank, and therefore the pawl.

Under these circumstances Experimental wish to omit the shield for the first production chassis.

We agree that this is the safest course, and should be glad if you would remove it from the part list.

Shortly we shall be sending through another type of mechanism, which we hope will eliminate both these troubles.
