x200a HOTEL DE FRANCE CHATEAUROUX, Indre. France. 25th April 1935. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. 5 B IV. We have tried the steering with the thick leaf spring anchored at the front, and shackled at the rear. The steering with these conditions is more selective and is less prone to shocks. You can drive at speed and hit a pot hole, without any appreciable effect on the steering. We have not noticed any difference with the braking under these conditions. We attempted this afternoon to fit the shackles, front and rear, with the radious rod scheme. We find however that the shackles have not been altered to suit the larger pins, also the frame has not been drilled to take the different setting out of the bracket. We have had to give it up. We are therefore, refitting the scheme of the springs being anchored at the front, but with the thin type road springs. G.W.Hancock. G.W.H. | ||
