obtain, and would not be noticeable on the road, but they would be very noticeable under servo conditions.

I have to order 12 Bentley sets of brake linings for complaint cases, that will be less likely to squeak than MR. I think the best stuff to order is S.6611, but before writing to your Sales Dept., I should like to know if you agree.

I should also like to try on my brake rig samples of VM.30, S.5584, and the material you supply for Bendix brakes. Will you let me know if you are willing to supply such samples before I order them.

From the enclosed graph which shows how your materials behave on our brakes, you will agree that S.5805 has the best curve, but for some reason unknown it seems more prone to squeak than S.6611. I am, therefore, still looking for a material with a moderately constant curve which does not readily squeak. That is why I would like the samples mentioned above. The value of µ is not very important.

With best wishes for the New Year,

Yours faithfully,

For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
