BENTLEY BRAKE TOGGLES.

In the experimental department we occasionally get cases of buckled front brake toggles on the rear shoes. We have just had another one go on 5.B.1V. It occurs on our cars because we have better servos than standard and sometimes more front braking.

When a toggle buckles the brake may seize on, or if this does not occur (as with aluminium drums) the drum will get badly scored.

More powerful servos will be coming on Bentley production soon, and certain customers are being given more front braking. We think it would be advisable for you to look into the question of strengthening this component or we may add to the list of customers' complaints.
