To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} 1113 June 24th.1937 Kingsbury BENTLEY REAR AXLE. 138.J.D. We have not been able to get this axle 100% quiet and as the owner has been worrying on the 'phone it has had to go. Today we have set the pinion in .002" and out .002" but the over-run period 35 to 32 is still there. The setting of the pinion made no noticeable difference. One has to listen for the whine but the owner is very critical, and the body, an open tourer with a cloth hood and road wheels totally enclosed, seems to bring the noise up. There was a period at 20 m.p.h. which we have proved to be tyre noise. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
