To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} [Handwritten: + 600a 26.G.VI] Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}7/MH.{M. Huckerby}2.12.37. WRAITH. It has been noticed on all the experimental Wraith cars that there is a tendency to over-steer after a certain sideways acceleration has been reached, lower than this acceleration the car under-steers which means that at the change-over the cars are very difficult to handle. The trouble has been overcome on three of the experimental cars by removing the rear roll rod and fitting up in front the roll rod and bushes removed from the Oldsmobile. When this has been done the cars handle very much better, and only over-steer right at the limit which is what we want. We should, therefore, like 26.G.VI to go to France with a front roll rod and without a rear roll rod. We think that the design of the front roll rod should very closely copy that of the Oldsmobile, with particular reference to the rubber support bushes as it will not then spoil the ride. Will Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} therefore please issue a design so that we can get one fitted on 26.G.VI before Christmas. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
