RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Mths.{Reg Matthews} X5060 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}4/MA.12.12.32. J.II No.2. SELF ADJUSTING TAPPET. We have to report that two of the eccentric Rockers E.58576/7 on the above unit have failed under test. These pieces at the moment are made in cast iron and we suggest that a set should be made in steel to enable us to carry on until a new design comes through. Making the eccentrics in steel will give steel to steel contact between the eccentrics and the rocker shaft E.58584 and in order to prevent seizing up we suggest that the rocker shaft be case hardened.
