We wish to submit as modification No. 46 the changing of the timing on our F.{Mr Friese} type engines as follows:-

Present timing:-
Inlet opens 8º after T.D.C.
" closes 38º after B.D.C.
Exhaust opens 30º before B.D.C.
" closes 8º after T.D.C.

New timing:-
Inlet opens 12º before T.D.C.
" closes 40º after B.D.C.
Exhaust opens 50º before B.D.C.
" closes 2º before T.D.C.
With .030" tappet clearance. Running clearance .020"

This modification is obtained by fitting new camshafts which are known as long duration type.

Camshafts can also be changed on engines already fitted in aeroplanes.

We should be glad to have your approval of this modification as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully,
