W/P. to Sr. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}11/MH.{M. Huckerby}9.10.37. RE PIERRE LOUIS DREYFUS. With further reference to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}14/JH.8.10.37, we find that many of the brown clutch springs, supplied by Borg and Beck are under their normal poundage, and thermoid appears to have a slightly lower coefficient of friction than the asbestos material now used. If the springs show between 147 and 155 lbs when compressed to a length of 1.687, all will be well, but if they are much under 147 lbs, it is advisable to fit a washer .050 to .060 thick at the back of each of the 9 springs, i.e. in the cup attached to the clutch cover, as this will eliminate the risk of slip in the hands of a fast driver.
