R R.{Sir Henry Royce} 235 a (100 T) (S.F 846 6-8-19) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2460 X.3922 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CJ. " " BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} " " PN.{Mr Northey} " " EFC. " " By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X.2628. RE ROAD SPRINGS. X.3981. X.3922. I think it is highly desirable for your to get Mr. Northey - (1) a set of springs of the present design but correctly bedded and polished between the leaves, These would have non-split plate, but sheared ends to the shorter plates. (2) Secondly, after he has had some experience with these, I would like you to change them for a set of the same strength of springs, but reverted to our earlier practice of tapering the ends of the springs in thickness, rather than in width. These should be exactly like those we have suggested Firths' should prepare to manufacture. (3) When he has had some experience with these, I would like you to let him have exactly, or actually the same springs fitted with ferodo liners. We do not think the ferodo liners would be altogether successful in the first type of spring, but you might test this on your own. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
