HIGH POWER HEAD.

The initial results on this head are very promising, now that the exhaust valve has been increased in diameter, and suggest that the flow through the valve is not uniform round the periphery but is largely round that part of the valve facing the transfer passage. As it is not possible to make any modifications to the existing head to test this, will you put in hand a design of head encouraging the uni-directional type of flow through the exhaust valve by bringing the wall of the combustion chamber remote from the transfer passage closer in to the valve.

It is suggested that two designs are made, one for normal compression ratios and one for ratios up to 9/1 and two or three heads cast for each design, leaving the transfer passages to be machined to different shapes to see to what extent the flow here influences detonation.

We would suggest concentrating for the time being on the shape over the exhaust valve and of the transfer passage until we can say quite definitely that the two valve head is superior to the single valve head.

It should be noted that the sparking plug over the exhaust plug could be deleted or moved nearer the transfer passage.
