Dear Sirs, For the attention Mr. C.S. Steadman. We are writing you in regard to the subject of anti-freeze, as the writer had the pleasure of discussing this matter with you during his last visit. We have had a telephone call from Messrs. Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd., Kingsbury, on this subject. The question was raised that your instruction booklet states that one gallon of Ethylene Glycol should be added to the radiator. This quantity is in our opinion excessive, and if we might say so, a little unnecessary in this country. As the 1938 Bentley, for example, has 24 pints of water in the cooling system, by adding 3½ pints of Bluecol, equivalent to 15% by volume, such a solution will start to freeze at 10° of frost, but is quite safe up to 25° of frost. For a full explanation of this statement would you kindly read the third and fourth paragraphs on page 2 of the enclosed booklet. The position is that Bentley Motors state that your instruction booklet asks them to use one gallon, whereas our booklet gives another recommendation. Might we ask you to read the enclosed booklet and as our recommendations are based on scientific facts, we suggest that possibly you may care to revise your booklet on the lines suggested in our booklet. contd: To avoid delay all envelopes should be addressed to the firm. | ||
