When the Bensport car arrived at Chateauroux it was found that there was considerable leakage of gas past the pistons. Hancock removed the pistons and it was found that the rings locking the gudgeon pin had failed and had worn the pistons very badly. The pistons have been returned to Derby and the car remains at Chateauroux and will not be able to be run until these have been replaced. The locking ring for the gudgeon pin on the Bensport is identical to that which we have used on the 25HP. The failure of the locking rings is undoubtedly due to the increased engine speed. We do not consider this fault will be very difficult to overcome and we are expecting early next week to send out the necessary parts so that this car can be running again.
