All the points arising on the 10,000 miles test on 22-EX car are receiving attention and where possible, improvements are being incorporated on the production cars. 22-EX car was tried by PN.{Mr Northey}, CWB. and others on the way to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. Although it was possible to criticise the steering and the engine roughness, it was considered to be a reasonable compromise and we do not know how to make it any better. Since then, we believe that something has happened during the running to the adjustment of the slipper wheel which has caused the spring drive to rattle at 25 m.p.h. and the engine period at 45 m.p.h. The design of this spring drive and slipper wheel is identical to the Phantom and there is no reason why it should behave any differently. We have asked our man to dismantle it and find out why it has altered. The oil leak from the rear of the engine is also receiving attention and we think it can be cured. The starter motor has failed completely. We believe this is due to the proportions and clearances rather than the design. Modified pieces have been sent to Chateauroux to confirm this. Although 22-EX car is more or less a sample of what the Works is producing contd :- | ||
