bronze with 10% lead added to see if they will be quieter and as effective as the cast iron liners in operation. These will be ready in a few days.

Side Shaft Gears 12's pitch. X.165
We have a pair of 12's pitch Brown & Sharpe gears fitted to a box. This is the second set of B & S 12's P.which we have had fitted in a box recently and the results are the same as the first set. They are much too noisy and the noise develops into a high pitched scream at fast speeds.

Frame tests by bumping. X.724
The frame fitted with two front cross members is now on test. The members are held by means of a single long bolt running right through each member. The frame has run 8 hrs 45 minutes so far and is still running.

Front Axle test by bumping. X.23
Front Axle No. F.3391 is being run on the bumping machine and after running 24 hrs 6 mins. developed a crack 4" on the inside of the near side spring in the front of the top flange. It is still running. This is the third axle of this type that has been broken by this test. The design has been modified to strengthen the weak point and as soon as I can obtain one of the improved axles I will test same.
