40/50 CHASSIS. STEERING BOXES.

Br, has written me to the effect that he has had three more 40/50 steering boxes which have broken right across as a result of slight accidents.

You will remember we have had two or three typical examples of this which have occurred at the Works. I am strongly of the opinion that we should start a standardisation sheet off, or at least raise the matter with R, pointing out the trouble we have had, and suggesting that we use an aluminium bronze steering box in place of the present type cast aluminium. I attach copy of br1/H4.12.22, which I think gives sufficient information to shew the need for a change.
