LAUNCHING GEAR - R.A.F.

Wing Commander Buxton and Pilot Officer Fender came over on Sunday and collected the launching winch which we took over from the Luneshire Gliding Club and overhauled.

They are still convinced that, for the final gear that they require, the Phantom III engine is the only one that will give them the necessary power output.

We have located a Phantom III Experimental engine, for which we have no particular use at the moment, which can be used for a prototype winch.

Wing Commander Buxton stated that the only thing holding them up at the moment was the paper work necessary to get the contracts through.

We are doing a little preliminary design work installing the Phantom III engine in a winch, but wish to have nothing made until we get some sort of a contract.
