FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to EFC. ORIGINAL SEQUENCE STARTER. x76257B Re. memo. R1/M7927., copy just to hand, the drawing mentioned in the last sentence but one is LeC. 2425. I am taking up the question of completing the remainder of the information required for fixing the motor on the engine with R.{Sir Henry Royce}, as the motor itself cannot be completed in Derby until this is done. With our new scheme of exhaust-LeC.2432.- to suit torque controlled front axle we cannot have the starter motor in the position shewn on LeC. 2425., and most likely we shall endeavour to arrange it looking backwards, placed alongside of the clutch casing. This latter position also appears better for the new Sports Phantom engine, as the lower crankchamber split leaves insufficient room for the motor alongside of the lower half of the crankcase.
