Re Chassis No. 12-EM. 10,000 Miles Trial Run. INCOMPLETED ITEMS. Points to be dealt with. Action taken. 1. There were three complaints of sickness from passengers riding in the back of the car. Two of them were actually sick, apparently caused by exhaust fumes. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reports:- Experiments are being carried out, in order to endeavour to do something to overcome this trouble. 2. Road Wheels. There are loose spokes on the outside of the wheels used on the rear and front axles. The enamel on the two rear wheels is in bad condition. We think that the position and width of the rear wings have had a great deal to do with this. A Conference is being arranged between Dunlops and ourselves. 3. Hartford Shock Absorbers. The friction of the Hartfords has increased in one case from 40lbs. to 87lbs. and in the other case from 40lbs. to 47lbs. The wooden bearings have swollen, and are very difficult to move. Both these features are of fairly common occurrence on cars, and completely spoil the riding of the car at slow speeds. We are still awaiting Makers' report since the parts have been despatched to them. 4. Oil pressure failure. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reports :- Experiments are being carried out with a valve having a narrow face, in order to try and overcome this trouble. Reply from EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}:- EFS/H15.1.24. attached marked "A". | ||
