ROYCE LTD. MANCHESTER. Dear Mr. Bentley, CONTINUOUS CURRENT BRAKE MAGNETS. I have not seen that we have any designs which can be considered entirely up-to-date and satisfactory. I suggest that we make a two limbed magnet for the continuous current work exactly on the lines of the 3 phase. It need not have expensive stampings, but could be made of thicker stampings of iron or steel of good permeability, but causing no fear with regard to hysterisis losses. One of the advantages would be that the dashpot, the operation, the method of fixing, and casing, would all be identical, even to the coil formers. There is a great advantage in a double limbed magnet as regards the foot pounds lifted for the weight of the complete device. Yours faithfully, F.H. Royce See Drg / B479 | ||
