Outstanding in design, appearance and performance, it is a product worthy of Philco—largest manufacturers of radio receivers in the world and originators of car radio—and worthy of a place in the finest of cars. Philco Car Radio De Luxe has 7 valves, as compared with 6 in the standard Philco model, and is provided with a larger speaker. Thus greater output is possible—enabling distant stations to be obtained at full listening strength—yet there is no distortion, even at full volume. Exceptional clarity and purity of tone is an important factor and a special 5-point control is fitted so that the tone can be adjusted to suit individual tastes. The set itself is distinctive in appearance, and is designed to harmonize with any make or type of car. It is in an attractive brown crystalline finish, with a gleaming chromium-plated grill, and a silk fret of modern design, over the speaker. The simple tuning control which enables the set to be operated with only two knobs, is also in chromium. The set is supplied with a built-in speaker, provision being made for an additional external speaker. A separate extension loud speaker, instead of the speaker in the unit itself, and controls of extra lengths can be supplied where required at small extra cost.
