+8430 Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} C. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C.BY/HED. BY3/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 25.8.25. STEERING WHEEL. - "NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I". +8430 I brought before the attention of R.{Sir Henry Royce} and CJ. the fact that we were using a cast aluminium steering wheel centre, which at least in one case had let us down (Campionnet), and suggested that it was now possible to buy a Duralumin forged centre. I informed them that it would mean a definite increase of cost (approximately 30/- per wheel). CJ. has now instructed me to get the dies for a Duralumin forging in hand, and to see that the next cars going to France to run 10,000 miles, on anti-wobble devices, are fitted with Duralumin centre steering wheels. Mr.Booth will issue a new drawing with a new piece number for the Duralumin wheel so that we will have definitely ear-marked where same begins on our Part List. I return Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}'s papers on this subject. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By DICKINSON BOND | ||
