Tyre manufacturing defects causing vibration and steering issues.

In this case it is useless to expect good results by balancing the tyre because it may still run out of truth and cause vibration.

Sometimes when tyres leave the Factory, they have treads of varying section, some portions having greater resilience than others. This is more or less inevitable owing to the nature of rubber and the impossibility of working to fine limits in moulds. When this occurs, and it is not by any means unusual, the tyre will produce unsatisfactory steering, even when it is new.

We have established the fact that a pair of new tyres can definitely impair the control of the car if they happen to suffer from this defect in manufacture. It is therefore always worth while suspecting the tyre in the case of poor steering after fitting a new cover.

It is also very undesirable to fit makes of tyre, not recommended by Messrs. Rolls-Royce, on the front axle of the 40/50 HP. car for obvious reasons.
