On my return from my trip down South with our Bentley Demonstrator B-1-CW, I sent a line to "Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}", and reported on the work done, prospects, etc., making a few comments at the same time re the Bentley.

He has now replied, and in his memo regarding the performance of the Bentley, he says the position is that the higher compression cylinder head has been standardised for use in special cases but, if it is an improvement on maximum speed that is wanted, he believes that it does not actually achieve anything in this direction, and only improves the acceleration. He also points out that with this type of cylinder head it is necessary to use special fuel, i.e., Ethyl or Esso.

He suggests that I get in touch with you on this subject, hence this memo.

Personally, I do not really care whether it increases the speed or not, so long as it gives the car more power, which is all we require, and this will help us quite a lot with our sales in France.

If you can do anything to help us, we shall consider this a "formidable coup de main"

Speaking of different Bentley matters, when
1° will chassis for Continental orders be fitted with the lead-bronze bearings prior to their departure from the Works?

2° Do you not think it would be advisable for these lead-bronze bearings to be fitted at the Works for chassis fitted with the high compression cylinder head to our order?

The chassis which should be fitted with the high compression cylinder head, are:

Embiricos,
Vitura,
Bernot,

as these are customers who always "bat" their cars.
