From time to time the question of instrument board arrangements has been discussed by R.{Sir Henry Royce} at WW. and the scheme that ultimately emerged was a grouped arrangement of instruments combined with the switchbox and starter controls illuminated by external subdued floodlighting, and designed so that each instrument had its own glass and was individually detachable. With however the use of pea lamps in screwed sockets and celluloid covered ports in the instruments we now feel that we can have internal lighting without excessive complication and without losing any of the advantages of the desired, and we are therfore proceeding on these lines for J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3.
