X.3656 - IRIDIO-PLATINUM CONTACT POINTS WITH A MUCH SMALLER AMOUNT OF PLATINUM THAN STANDARD. Please find attached copy of my assistant's report on some bench tests of iridio-platinum contact points containing a much smaller quantity of platinum than our standard. It is considered that the result of this test is sufficiently satisfactory to warrant putting a pair of these points on one of the experimental cars, which we shall accordingly do. The prices we now pay for standard platinum points are 14/- +12/8 = £1.6.8; cost of fitting, 4½d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} The prices quoted for these points, which are of 25% iridio platinum welded to steel studs, are 12/- per pair, or 11/6 per pair in a hundred pair lots. A contact blade and screw fitted with these points by Messrs. W.H. Reynold & Co. Key Hill Drive, Birmingham, were taken to Mr. Royce by Mr. Hives on 14.6.21. Apparently it is generally considered that iridio-platinum gives better service than plain platinum for contact points. The matter of this iridio-platinum was first brought to our notice by Messrs. North & Sons, the contacts for whose magnetos ared done in this way by Messrs. Reynolds. EFC. | ||
