Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HPP.6/JH Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. Derby. [Handwritten Stamp/Notes: LUCAS, EXD Garage] Dear Sirs, We acknowledge with thanks your letter of the 15th inst., concerning Rate No. 5 Meter Valves. The Filter is fitted to protect the restriction orifice from dirt or particles of metal which may come from the pipe line or screwed joints, and we feel that the omission of the filter would lead to trouble, caused by the restriction orifice becoming choked. On examining the sample which you sent us, we found small particles of brass embedded in the valve. We have had no experience of the valves becoming clogged due to the felt filters becoming matted. Yours faithfully, LUVAX LIMITED. [Signature] RDouglas. | ||
