Mr. Hives, from GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} X3525 14.12.22. STEERING TESTS ON DELAGE CAR. X3525 Steering by hand on the Delage car is quite easy on a flat level road - the wheels are inclined to wobble when they strike an uneven patch. The steering is very hard on a cambered road always making for the N.S. This may be on account of the position which one has to get to steer the car, having to push against it to get O.S. steering. We also carried out tests for wobbles using Dunlop 880 X 120 magnum canvas tyres - pressures 60 lbs. We could not build up wobbles to any definite result as we can with its own tyres (Michelin). We then tried lightening up the springs in the side steering rod. The effect was as in our own case, - the wobbles are much harder to get and will not build up. It is the reverse when springs are slacked off. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
