Mr Hanbury. 27.9.12. Re Bushes in Spring Eyes and Spring Links etc. TBB8/L27912. With reference to the attached matter, Mr Royce's decision is to the effect that the trouble we have experienced in the breaking of spring links is almost entirely due to our practice of making the pins a good fit in the bushes, with the result that in some cases (possibly where lubrication has not been carried out effectively) the pins have become tight and have caused the links to become subjected to a constantly reversing stress due to the twisting of each pin in the bush. He has decided therefore to increase the clearance to at least .01 and not more than .025 in every case. Standing orders have been issued to this effect and all cars are being changed as they come into the Repair Shops. | ||
