contd :- -2- The third diagram attached shews the extra terms that we have added to Carter's formula to make it cover a 4-bearing 6-cyl. engine. I should be interested if you would try it sometime on the example that you have at Cambridge, and let me know the results. I sent the single-crank stiffnesses (corrected and out-of-bearings) to Carter on Tuesday evening as you required. I shall be able to send you some experiences with the electrical excitation experiments shortly when we have got a little way ourselves.
