To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. c. F.V. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} X6055 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.9/AHL.2.32 BATTERY BOXES. With reference to your EB/G29.1.32 last paragraph, we agree that some improvement should be made in the fixing of the battery in the box. We have only recently had complaints passed on to us from Paris that the batteries on one or two customers P.II cars crack at the corners allowing leakage to occur and consequent failure. This cracking seems to have been accentuated by the wedge method which we adopt as the present standard scheme of packing and securing the battery in the box. Some simple form of clamping as suggested by you could be investigated with the new universal battery, a sample of which we have now received. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
