To BA. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CE. RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} HSS. DY.{F R Danby} " " EFC. X.3790 ORIGINAL. E1/G29/5/20. RE "BUZZARD" CONNECTING RODS. We send you herewith drawing No. LeC.1239 showing two alternative connecting rods of the super-imposed type for the "Buzzard" engine. In these two designs the big end bushes are of the marine type bolted to the connecting rod with a view of doing away with the troubles due to deflection which at present exist with the "Condor" type of big end. In type "A" the connecting rod is shaped round the top half of the big end and fits only on the flat end faces and on the jaws provided for preventing the top half bush closing in. Type "B" has a flat top on the upper half bush, but it is provided with serrations with a view to preventing the fork on the connecting rod from opening and closing under load. Each type of rod uses the same lower half big end bush. Would you kindly ~~send us a blue print of LeC.1239~~ return the original as soon as you have taken blue prints as we wish to use the banjo drawing.
