The following is a list of parts which are at present being examined at the conclusion of the 15,000 mile test with a view to circulating standardisation sheets:- ENGINE. (1) 4 port cylinder heads. (2) Clutch pilot bearing with brass cage to reduce cost. (3) Mild steel front engine feet to reduce cost. (4) Starter motor brake, etc. (5) Cheaper oil level indicator. (6) Cylinder liners cast in R.R. Foundry. (7) Mild steel engine coupling flanges to reduce cost. (8) R.R. 56 main bearing shims. CHASSIS. (1) Stiffer half shaft. (2) Large differential washers in rear axle to decrease the rate of wear. (3) Wide rim wheels for greater stability. (4) Prop. shaft with sliding joint at rear to decrease un-balance. (5) Gearbox stays to reduce chunking. (6) Screw-threaded synchromesh cones. | ||
