P.III DRIVE GEARBOX.
It has been agreed by the Administration that in cases of complaint of drive groans at 23 m.p.h. on P.III, a propeller shaft damper should be fitted to the forward end of the propeller shaft.
A standard 25/30 or Bentley damper should be used, together with the special flanged universal joint member which carries it. A complete 25/30 or Bentley sliding piece should not be used, as these have soft splines whereas P.III has hardened ones.
