CARS IN EXPL: DEPT: X1SO

The reason we have not got rid of the Hispano and Mercedes cars is because they are still useful as experimental cars.

At the present time we and W.W. are referring to the Hispano car constantly in connection with steering problems. The Hispano car is especially useful at present as it is a successful high speed high efficiency car. Although it is months since this car was run on the road, it has been most valuable to have it to refer to.

As regards the Mercedes. The chief interest in this car is the fact that it is fitted with a super-charger. The results obtained with the super-charger were difficult to analyse because we did not know the characteristics of the Mercedes engine. We have therefore made an adaptor so that we can fit the Mercedes super-charger on to one of our own 20 HP. engine test beds. This job has been held up because of more urgent work, but we should like to complete it before the car is sold. We ought to be able to get rid of the Mercedes car in 6 to 7 weeks time.
