SpectreCodename for Phantom III Oil Pressures.

Pressures have been taken at various points between the delivery at the oil pump and the final release from the pump drive housing.

These tests were taken starting from cold at an oil temperature of 15°C. - 20°C. using Motorine C and running at 1000 r.p.m.

The average of several readings which vary up to 10% are shewn on BP-15, in comparison with the graph of estimated pressures on Lec.4359.

The following is a list of the comparative pressures at various points in the system :-

Actual Estimated
(1) Delivery pressure at pump 110 lbs/sq. 123 lbs/sq.
(2) Present gauge position (before oil cooler and by-pass valve) 94 " 96 "
(3) After cooler (main pressure to bearings) 73 " 65 "
(4) Pressure to rocker feed 40 " 34 "
(5) Pressure in release passage of the valve box 25 " 15 "
(6) Pressure in the pump drive housing 14 " 6 "

These tests were run under the same conditions as indicated on Lec.4359, the unit having lead-bronze big ends and whitemetal main bearings.
