To P.N. From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. to Ef. X4117. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.16.3.32. MRS. CORRIGAN - P.2. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} has spoken to me on the telephone from Paris and states that Mrs. Corrigan has tried her car and considers that it is still unsatisfactory from the point of view of booming, and she refuses to have it. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} has tried the car in Paris and considers there is no improvement as regards this fault compared with what it was like before it was dealt with at Cricklewood. They have been working on the car in Paris and have carefully gone over the exhaust system to see whether this had become distorted again, but so far they have not been able to make any improvement. The car is going to the coachbuilders in order for them to try and damp the body but Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} is not very hopeful as regards the result and therefore he is wanting some advice as regards what should be done to the car. I learnt from Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} that Mrs. Corrigan travels at all speeds up to 70 or 75 M.P.H. Our recommendations are that as Mrs. Corrigan is going to be a very difficult customer, and is apparently an important customer, we should make this car the best we know of. To do this we ought to fit the Diamond engine mounting. We realise that the rear engine feet have been disconnected on this car without much apparent improvement but we still think that there should be an advantage in fitting the Diamond mounting. It might cost us much more if we attempt to do it by any other means. I promised Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} that I would discuss this point with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} today and let him have a decision of what should be done. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Since writing the above we have discussed this matter with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and he has agreed that the car shall be returned to England and have Diamond engine mounting fitted in Derby. We have wired Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Paris telling him of this decision. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
