There is no doubt that we can do what U.S.A. did, but Cy. brought us a car fitted with one of their Radiators and we considered it an unsatisfactory job; at the same time I agree it is very important that we get away from Staybrite owing to the cost, if this is possible. We are going ahead with 4 Radiators, 2 of the 20/25 type and 2 of the "Peregrine" type of the present standard shape with a loose shell in the hope that we shall be able to make something with greater durability and lasting properties than the Springfield Radiator which was far from satisfactory as far as our products are concerned. When we have the Radiators made up which we have in mind for you to see we will have them thoroughly tested on experimental cars to see if they stand up to our requirements. Worl/Gr.{George Ratcliffe}23.12.32. and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/E29.12.32. My note of the 23rd December last was intended to convey that the "Peregrine" finish would be the same as the 20/25 and the 40/50. Staybrite finish was specifically mentioned by me in regard to the Radiator, as Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}9/KW21.12.32. particularly enquired regarding the Radiator; all other external bright parts will be chromium plated except Top Bonnet Hinge. With a view of trying to get away from the necessity of using Staybrite, the Expt. Dept. has been requested to make up Radiator shapes for "Peregrine" for inspection, of such a form and construction as can be satisfactorily chromium plated - see Minute No.8 on Page 8 of Minutes of Conference held at Derby on Thursday, January 12th, 1933. The Radiator Shutters of "Peregrine" will be chromium plated and not made of Staybrite as on the 40/50 and 20/25 HP. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} | ||
