re BENTLEY CHASSIS WEIGHTS
-------------------------

With reference to your memo Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}25/KW1.3.35, the question of chassis weights is always a controversial one, and one has to be very careful in making comparisons between one chassis and another. Apart from the fact that customers' specifications vary and chassis are in some cases despatched from the Works incomplete, a good deal of discrepancy is possible between one chassis and another of exactly the same type, due to manufacturing limits.

The average weight of the Bentley chassis has gone up very little from the start - round about 25 lbs - until the present series, which shows an increase of roughly 50 lbs. from the original weight.

Reverting to our last report, giving the weight of two "C" chassis as 2191 lbs. showing an increase of only 11 lbs. over the original series, we find that these two chassis were lighter than the average, and 2205 lbs. would more nearly represent the average weight of the "C" chassis.

We attach hereto sample weights of present "D" series Bentley chassis.
