COPY. Grand Hotel Moderne, Grenoble. Wed. 6th Feb. 1924. C.J. Reached here 6.30 this evening. Raining all day. Roads very heavy. The cast iron shoes were fitted to servo in place of the much worn ferodo, but the braking has been very bad and ineffective. The work took all night. Probably a keen adjustment of brake parts all round, which is taking place tonight will improve matters. Nothing fresh about engine, but continued familiarity with it confirms the feeling I have expressed that the engine governor is an attractive feature sadly missed. Tomorrow, staying probably at Digne, then Cannes. I hope E.J. will endeavour to experience the acceleration on first gear with Paddon's Hisp. Suiza, I wrote you about. None of our gear ratios with E.A.C. gives anything like this effect. (Sgd) P.N. | ||
