Re. MORRIS COWLEY CAR (TOLLERTON TRANSPORT).

This car has now completed over 32,000 miles and has got to the stage where a complete overhaul is necessary, new tyres are also necessary. The cost of this would be considerably more than it would be possible to get for the car if sold. We suggest that it will be better to sell the car in part exchange for a new car of the same type. By buying a new car in preference to a second-hand one we get a much better price allowance for the old car and in addition are sure of obtaining a serviceable car. The car used on the Tollerton job does quite a big mileage (average 300 per week) and if we buy a second hand car there is the risk that it has already finished its useful life and would not be economically serviceable for the job.

We have made enquiries and the following is the best offer we can get -

New Morris Cowley Saloon £ 179.10.0
Tax to end of year. 7. 7.0
Delivery charges 2.10.0
Number plates 15.0
----------------------
£ 190. 2.0.

By allowance on old
Morris car 45. 0.0.
----------------------
£ 145. 2.0.

We think this is a good offer and recommend that we accept it. We should anticipate that the new car would give two years trouble free service and its second hand value by then would be approx. £60.0.0. The depreciation per year on this basis is approx. £40.0.0.

If this agreed will you kindly let us know and we will place the order for the new car.
