X976 Expl: Dept: 29th. Mar. 1926. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/LG. Frederick Goodliffe Esq., 20 Wollaton Street, Nottingham. Dear Sir, Referring to your letter of the 22nd. inst. We use large quantities of Shell Mex motor spirit. This spirit, of course, is not as good as Shell No.1. or Aviation. We choose to use it because if our cars can be made to run satisfactory on this fuel, there should be no difficulty with the average fuels which are obtainable. The disadvantages with Shell Mex will be noticed mostly when starting from cold, or if the water temperature is too low, or again, if there is no proper heating arrangement to the carburetter. BP. No.1. is a higher grade fuel than Shell Mex. As regards BP. No.3., we have had no experience with this. Yours faithfully, | ||
