HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RB.{R. Bowen} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. c. Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH.3/ML.1.5.41. M.40. TEST RIG. With reference to your Memo. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RB.{R. Bowen}1/VS.{J. Vickers}30.4.41., dealing with alterations on the above rig engine, our comments are as follows :- RE. 1890. Valve Spring Washer - Bottom. Further investigation shows that the boss on the cylinder head cannot be produced large enough to accomodate the valve spring without encountering machining difficulties. RE. 1893. Distance Piece - Rocker Shaft. This piece can be modified completely to your request when we produce a revised cylinder head. At the moment this tube only clears the rocker cover stud by a few thous. RE. 1706/7. Oil Feed Pipe. It was agreed that Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} would consider "olive" joints in the course of any future development work, but as we are committed to the present design on the crankcase we should adhere to details as instructed. RE. 1935. Stud - Rocker Cover. This stud was replaced by a standard stud KB.774, under alteration 295/RE., instructed in Memo. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH.3/SW.7.4.41. RE. 1923. Cylinder Head. This detail was re-issued under alteration 258/RE, instructed in Memo. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH.3/SW.7.4.41. We were unable to meet your request for vertical push rod holes, as stated in Memo. Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner}1/SW.20.3.41. - Continued - | ||
