This again we suggest be made to serve for all the steerings. Again we do not think you need immediately trouble about the short chassis as this drawing will be corrected immediately the need for secrecy disappears.

H.SCHEME 2670. SCUTTLE & DASH ISOLATION.

This drawing shews a scheme of scuttle and dash isolation and very closely resembles the one now in use.

We have discovered that the scuttle armature brackets almost fouled the 'D' and 'E' type sloping floorboards, and have slightly increased the slope of the inclined edge.

We find that they are placed on the subframe in a position which calls for a scuttle armature 1.500 thick. The latest scuttle isolation scheme, needs an armature 1.375 thick. We have shewn the bracket moved forward .125 inches. We think both of these modifications should be on the first subframes.

The scuttle armature stiffener at the base has not sufficient clearance between itself and the dashboard web. We would like the width reduced as shewn, or we shall have trouble when mounting bodies.

SUBFRAME SIDE MEMBER.

To enable the coachbuilder to accurately set out the side member of the subframe on the full-size drawing we think we should supply a print of the detail of the subframe side member, either Standard or Sports as the case may be. A print of the detail for one side only will be sufficient. If these dimensions were crowded on to the Subframe Print it would become unintelligible.

These four prints, together with the book on the subframe, will enable the Coachbuilders to go ahead until a short while before the chassis arrives.

We suggest that Sales should warn the Coachbuilders that they should not produce Standard front wings, valances, steps on toolboxes for Phantom, as they would be unsuitable for the SS.{S. Smith} Chassis.

If necessary, owing to the chassis being late, he has to make them before the chassis arrives, he will be able to do so when we issue the Wing and Valance Print. This we do not wish to do until as late as possible for reasons of secrecy. The Rear Wing, being entirely on the body can be completed from the information given on the enclosed drawings.

All drawings should refer to Phantom and not S.S.
