32-EX. PHANTOM III.

Referring to the remarks in your Daily Reports of boiling on the above car, we would like you to give us the following information.

(a) Are you definitely satisfied that blocking of the matrix with insects has reduced the cooling of the radiator.

(b) Has the radiator actually lost water i.e. has steam valve opened, or do you mean that 100°C. was reached.

(c) Has the overheating in question taken place with the higher speed fan drive, and can you give us precise figures of maximum temperatures recorded - both water and air at the same time.

We are interested in these facts since the matrix fitted to 32-EX. car is not a standard one, but uses .005 tinned waterway and .003 untinned airway construction instead of the standard .006 tinned waterway and .004 tinned airway construction.

Since commencing this memo we have received your telegram for a new fan and belt. We are forwarding by Air Mail a new fan and two belts. Will you please let us know exactly what happened to the car's own fan and return all the pieces for inspection.

We do not see any mention in your reports of adding water to the radiator - has this been done and what quantities have been added.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.
