Will you please carry out an endurance test on the 25 HP. rig steering box which we have handed to you. The feature under test is the ball bearing roller follower and the gear is at present fitted with ball races having 0.1875 radius ball tracks and 0.250 dia. balls. The conditions of test should be 850 lbs. on the pendulum lever and a speed of not more than 300 r.p.m. on the cam. An integrating rev counter should be attached to the cam to record the total number of revolutions. The temperature should not be allowed to exceed 80°C and the gear should be filled with Price's Amber B. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.J.Hardy. | ||
