The design and performance of cylinder heads and brake-drums.

As pointed out before the cylinder head is on aluminium with the valve seating direct in this material. This appears to work well.

The brake-drums consist of a steel liner shrunk into aluminium with a substantial flange on the steel liner with a row of set-screws through this flange into the aluminium. The shoe area is very large indeed for a car of this weight, and I should think was largely responsible for the satisfactory performance one hears about.
